  • Hotel Recommendation: The Bungalow

This Long Branch boutique hotel is perfect for small events.

    FROM THE Summer 2017 ISSUE

Bungalow Hotel brings a dash of West Coast cool to the Jersey Shore. This boutique hotel is slick and stylish with a bit of surfer chic thrown in for good measure. All rooms and suites have working fireplaces. Style is in the hotel’s genetics, as celebrity designers Courtney and Robert Novogratz are behind the look.

The hotel is part of Long Branch’s upscale Pier Village complex, the oceanfront promenade of shops and restaurants. Bungalow hosts corporate events in its stylish lounge-bar area, as well as in the oversized suites. The Bungalow isn’t just a chic spot to hang your hat; there are several spaces within the hotel for meetings. The two-bedroom suites are all available for private meetings and accommodate up to eight guests.

ght guests. Have a larger group? Why not rent the hotel’s lobby lounge-bar area? There is a full bar with signature cocktails available for purchase a la carte. Catering can be arranged through nearby brasserie Avenue, as well as other local restaurants like Scala’s Pizzeria and Surf Taco. Amenities include games like billiards, foosball, checkers and backgammon. The outdoor area with a fireplace and oversized seating provides yet another location to relax and unwind with colleagues.

Awards do not come easily in the restaurant business. Michelin, AAA and Forbes tell us who the best is (and Wine Spectator when it comes to vino), and there are only a select few of local establishments that make the esteemed cut. The Bernards Inn is in rare company, as it is the only restaurant in New Jersey that has made the Forbes list of the top restaurants in the United States. AAA counts just 11 restaurants in its Four-Diamond rating in our state. While you may hear that trophies are handed out just for showing up, it’s clearly not the case when it comes to dining.

What generation will make up 75 percent of the workforce in 2025? If you guessed millennials, you’d be right! According to an article titled "How Millennials Could Upend Wall Street and Corporate America" by Morley Winograd and Dr. Michael Hais, by 2020, millennials will comprise more than one of three adult Americans, and by 2025 they will make up as much as 75 percent of the workforce. What does that mean for corporate planners? They will have to evolve the way they plan corporate events from boomers and Gen X’ers to millennials or face having an event that will become a social disaster!
